4-4-8 Breathing exercise

4-4-8 exercise is a breathing exercise to help you relax and focus. It will help you to get rid of the tension and clarify your thinking.

Slowly count 1-2-3-4 as you inhale through your nose. Hold your breath and count 1-2-3-4 Exhale for 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 count.

Pay attention to the bells – there is a short melody of 4 notes going up for when you have to breathe in, then it stops for you to hold your breath. The 8-note melody going downwards will indicate your exhale time.

I love breathing exercises based on the count of 4. The division into 4 makes the foundation of the music, so for me as a classically trained musician doing these exercises feels like home.

This is one of my first tries to write Breathing Music. It means that the music works as a guide. You can close your eyes and follow the sound cues by listening to the bells.
